Unlocking Our Sound Heritage

Posted on: 11 December 2019

Unlocking Our Sound Heritage is a national project to preserve and make accessible sound collections across the UK. The South East Hub for the project is based at The Keep in Brighton. Esther Gill, Project Manager for UOSH in the South East, is interested in hearing what UOSH could do to support you in caring for, digitising, archiving and using your sound collections. If you have any thoughts on this or responses to the questions below, please email her on  esther.gill@sussex.ac.uk.

  • Do you have sound recordings within your collections?
  • Do you feel confident in identifying types of sound formats (from wax cylinders through to digital formats), assessing their condition, caring for them, archiving them, clearing rights to use them?
  • Would you be interested in training in audio digitisation, rights clearance, archiving your sound recordings or any other area of managing sound collections.
  • How can we support you?
