Running a Climate Themed Takeover DayEvent Date:13 September 2021 10:00 am — 13 September 2021 11:30am
Join us for an informal virtual briefing and discussion session to inspire your own climate themed Takeover Day.
Kids in Museums Takeover Day is when museums, galleries, historic homes, archives and heritage sites invite young people in to take over jobs normally done by adults.
Takeover Day 2021 (12 November 2021) will be the very first themed event, timed to coincide with the UN Climate Conference COP26 in Glasgow.
Museums can play an important role in supporting young people to learn more about the Climate and Ecological Emergency, to discuss and debate the issues surrounding it and to get involved with social action to achieve long-term change.
In this session, we will:
- provide a range of ideas to inspire your own climate themed Takeover Day by local children and young people
- hear a case study from the Seaside Museum, Herne Bay, about their climate themed Takeover Day in 2019
- create opportunities for attendees to informally share their ideas and other projects they have undertaken around the climate and ecological emergency.
The session will be delivered by Laura Bedford from Kids in Museums and is open to anyone working or volunteering in museums across the south east.
