The Oxfordshire Museums Service operates the Oxfordshire Museum at Woodstock and the purpose-built collections care and research facility at the Museums Resource Centre near Standlake. The Museums Resource Centre provides a range of services and loans to museums, schools and communities across the county.
About the role
We are seeking a Museum Technical Officer/ Site Supervisor with woodworking and resistant materials skills, who is confident working with fragile historic collections. Supporting exhibition set up, making mounts for objects and reorganising storage are all part of the job. You will be able to drive the museum van to deliver and move museum objects and exhibitions and will use lifting equipment to move larger objects. As site supervisor you are responsible for site security, liaising with contractors, Health and Safety and maintenance of workshop machinery.
You will work as part of a team of paid staff and volunteers to look after the historic collections in the care of the Oxfordshire Museums Service.
The post is based at the Museums Resource Centre, which is located on the A415 a few minutes’ drive south of Witney.
