Horsham District Council has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Museum Volunteer and Business Coordinator to join a small and dedicated team at Horsham Museum. You will be joining at a key time in the development of the Museum as the galleries are currently in the middle of a refresh and refurbishment programme. We are looking to reopen the museum during late summer/early autumn and your role will be central to developing the new customer experience and volunteer offer.

We have a wonderful team of dedicated volunteers at the museum who carry out a range of really important tasks – from tending to our beautiful courtyard garden, cataloguing a huge range of historical artefacts, creating and supporting exhibitions and displays through to education and outreach work within the community. This role will lead on a new area of volunteer support, recruiting, training, supporting, motivating and developing the front-of-house welcome and retail offer.

We are looking for someone who is keen, passionate, committed, a team player but also able to be a self-starter, believes in the power and importance of volunteering, can demonstrate strong people-management experience as well as having an eye for detail and the ability to smoothly deliver business administrative aspects of the service. Experienced in multi-tasking, able to work to tight deadlines, be able to prioritise effectively, have a flexible and can-do attitude, you will be customer-focused and able to engage with visitors and volunteers in a positive manner.

The role operates on a shift basis working 5 days over the 7-day week including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
