Milestones Museum and Basing House are cornerstone commercial venues for Hampshire Cultural Trust. With up to 15,000 visitors per month, Milestones Museum brings history to life and is the trust’s busiest museum, having grown substantially over the past few years both in terms of visitors and commercial income. Following a recent investment of over £200k in the museum’s welcome, retail and catering areas the trust has further investment ambitions to build upon this in the coming years. The current coronavirus crisis has meant the temporary closure of our venues, both Milestones Museum and Basing House will play a critical part on the trust’s recovery plan as the year progresses.

With accountability for a significant budget, leading and inspiring a team of 26 plus a dedicated team of volunteers, you will be responsible for ensuring the venues are efficient and achieve maximum impact from available resources, delivering a profitable business strategy focusing on enhancing the customer experience.

We are looking for an individual with significant experience in the development of venues as a commercial enterprise, with a successful track record of maximising visitor experience and financial targets. Critically, you will have managed organisational growth and have an in-depth understanding of how to increase income generation through development of customer initiatives, working with the central marketing team to develop and deliver an effective marketing strategy.

You will have strong influencing and negotiation skills and an ability to form highly effective relationships across a wide spectrum of stakeholders, internally and externally.
