Lego Expert

Location:D-Day Museum, Portsmouth Salary:£4,800 Interview date:04/03/2020 Closing date:25/02/2020 Job Description:

1.0 Aim of the project

To engage families to play their part in creating Lego Landing Crafts at key events across the
city of Portsmouth in anticipation for the opening of Landing Craft Tank 7074 (LCT 7074).

2.0 Background

LCT 7074 is a partnership between the National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRM) and
The D-Day Story (DDS) operated by Portsmouth City Council. The project sees the
preservation and relocation of this 59 metre tank-carrying landing craft built specifically for
D-Day and the Normandy Landings. Built in just a few weeks and not designed nor expected
to last beyond the Second World War, its survival is all the more remarkable.
Work on site has started to build a canopy over the 59 metre ship and in spring 2020 LCT
7074 will be moved by sea to a prominent public position outside the D-Day Story, in
Southsea. LCT 7074 will open as part of The D-Day Story in summer 2020.
