Brooklands Museum is looking for someone who will demonstrate a good financial understanding, ensuring every penny they spend and everything they do returns maximum value, keeps everyone safe and helps them to achieve the Museum’s exciting plans for the future. Utilising the knowledge and experience of those around you, you will need to be able to influence a diverse range of people in order to bring about change.You will be comfortable managing contractors, conducting contract negotiations and from time to time, having difficult conversations which will need to be handled with tact and diplomacy.

Full-time, one-year fixed term contract (possibility of extension)

This is a new role which has been created to work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure that the museum offers an exceptional visitor experience. The Facilities Manager will make the very best use of the time, money and resources available for maintaining and running their complex site.

This is no ordinary facilities management role and it’s an exciting opportunity for someone to help shape the way the Museum operates. Following a review of their current facilities processes, practices and contracts, you will be required to devise and implement new ways of working. They need to be able to prioritise Brooklands Museum’s maintenance and site enhancement requirements, and understand if, or where, they have a backlog of maintenance to complete so that they can make informed decisions about where best to focus their efforts.

It is guaranteed that no two days will be the same. You may be organising condition surveys on a historic building or setting up new help desk reporting systems one day and then support preparations on site for a major event the next. You may even need to get hands on to help fix unexpected problems or carry their minor repairs from time to time.

The Facilities Manager will play an integral part in ensuring that the site is safe and secure for everyone. You will need to be an active champion for safety and ensure they have all the required processes, procedures, records and training in place.
