Exhibition Technician, Hampshire Cultural Trust

Salary:£10,500 per annum Closing date:19/11/2021 Job Description:

COULD YOU LEND US A HAND?

It takes a lot to keep our exhibitions programme going and we seek a practically minded, hands-on Exhibition Technician to help support the delivery of a dynamic programme of arts and culture at Hampshire Cultural Trust.

While centrally based in Winchester, the work of the Programming Team stretches across Hampshire from the Red House Museum in Christchurch to the Museum of the Iron Age in Andover. Each year, we welcome many tens of thousands of visitors to see an ever-changing programme of temporary displays that include irreplaceable fine art, fascinating interactive displays and fragile museum objects

As Exhibition Technician, you’ll work with the team to successfully install, maintain and take-down temporary exhibitions at our three flagship galleries in Gosport, Basingstoke and Winchester.

A bit about you

You’ll have previous experience of exhibition installation, perhaps in a museum, gallery or similar work environment.  As a hands-on carpenter, you’ll enjoy flexing your practical problem solving skills.  You’ll be confident working with both hand and power tools and will be happy to work at height if required.  As a team-player you’ll enjoying working with the wider team towards common goals and deadlines.  And you’ll take pride in seeing a good job well done!

This position is offered on a fixed term basis, running for 6 months.  Working hours are dependent on business needs. Whilst working an average of 80 hours over the month, you would be required to work more hours during busy weeks and less during quieter spells.
