The Royal Armouries cares for one of the world’s oldest museum collections. Housed at the Victorian Fort Nelson near Portsmouth in Hampshire, at its historic home at the Tower of London and at its headquarters and flagship museum in Leeds, we tell the story of the national collection of arms and armour.

We’re looking for a keen, committed educator to join our Education Team at Fort Nelson near Fareham, Hampshire, as we continue to develop new programmes to enrich and grow our formal learning audiences. Our Education programme has been designed to deliver a truly outstanding learning experience for all users, providing a unique blend of interactive activities, engaging facilitation and exciting “wow” moments to bring the national curriculum and our iconic collection to life.

In this post you will deliver a variety of workshops to a wide range of learners (EYFS to adult), with a particular focus on school audiences. Our workshops incorporate various approaches to learning including, but not limited to, role play (including costumed interpretation), process drama, object handling, storytelling and live demonstrations. You will therefore need to be an adaptive communicator and committed to continuous professional development in a team that combines academic rigour with creative flair, and serious-mindedness with a sense of fun.

The successful candidate will ideally have some experience of delivering programmes for formal learning audiences, and will be an enthusiastic learner too! Experience of and enthusiasm for using drama/ role-play to teach school aged children about history would also be advantageous.

This is a full-time post, [5 days out of 7] 8.30am – 4.30pm. The days worked will usually be Monday to Friday. Weekend bank holiday and evening working may occasionally be required.
