Collections and Engagement Manager, New Forest Heritage Centre

Location:Lyndhurst, Hampshire Salary:£30,000 Main duties:

Collections
•Lead on all aspects of collections and their care, ensuring best standards.
•Develop and maintain relevant policies, plans and procedures, and ensure compliance.
•Lead on Accreditation returns.
•Manage the development of the collections in line with the NFHC’s business plan.
•Ensure the smooth running of the Reference Library during public open sessions and deal with research enquiries.
•Ensure the Collections Management system and all relevant documentation and paperwork are maintained.
•Ensure accessibility to our collections, including via our New Forest Knowledge website (nfknowledge.org).
•On-going contribution to research.

Volunteers
•To recruit and manage a team of volunteers working alongside paid personnel in fulfilment of the NFHC’s Business Plan.
•Train and manage a volunteer team, ensuring the highest standards of health and safety and legal compliance are adhered to e.g. safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults

General
•Deputise for the Centre Manager when appropriate
•A member of the Centre Management Team
•Maintain budgets as appropriate

We are looking for a dynamic, and enthusiastic individual to be responsible for the overall care and management of the collection, and the volunteer programme. The successful candidate will deputise for the Centre Manager when appropriate.

Must be an excellent communicator, with experience of collections care and Accreditation, and an understanding of industry best practice. Knowledge of the New Forest would be advantageous. The role is full-time and some occasional evening and weekend working is required.
