Bucks Heroes Project Co-ordinator

Location:Aylesbury, Bucks Salary:£25, 975 Benefits:5% pension Main duties:
  • To act as Project Co-ordinator for the Bucks Heroes project, shaping engagement and activities and ensuring delivery of the project outputs and outcomes on time and within the agreed project timescales and budgets
  • To build and lead on the project activity plan, community engagement, sourcing resources and facilitators as needed, and co-ordination of delivery
  • To work closely with the Social History Curator and Community Outreach Officer to involve local communities in the project activity plan
  • To lead and work closely with the Creative Learning and Engagement Manager and Community Outreach Officer to plan and deliver the new flexible visitor space for schools, communities and families
  • To build strong working relationships with community groups that support the project aims and collect stories of hidden Bucks Heroes, providing support and training as necessary
  • To plan and deliver community events, activities and creative gallery engagement around Bucks Heroes stories collected from communities
  • To work with the Creative Learning and Engagement Manager to plan and deliver self-guided activities for the flexible learning space based on handling collections of community objects and stories
  • To liaise with other project team staff and arrange training for skills necessary to deliver the project
  • To plan and deliver Bucks Heroes exhibition in Year 3 of the project co curated with the local community and Head of Exhibitions at the Museum
  • To recruit, manage and arrange training for new volunteers particularly from local communities to engage with delivery of the project activities and to sustain the project beyond the completion date
  • To work with Omnes Interactive to deliver an App on Bucks Hero stories and objects created by young people with expert support and to promote the finished product to other young people in the region to engage with their heritage through digital interpretation
  • Work with Marketing Officer to promote project activities and to provide digital platforms for Bucks Hero stories
  • Lead and deliver the formative and summative evaluation plans for the project working with consultant and other staff as necessary to get base line and impact data through a variety of methods
  • Providing regular quarterly reports and updates for National Lottery Heritage Fund as needed , facilitating Grants Officer monitoring visits and submitting quarterly claims for the grant
  • To manage the project budget efficiently to ensure cost effectiveness and adherence to the Museum and National Lottery Heritage Fund Procurement Policies
  • Share lessons learnt with other museum professionals through networks and via the Museum Development Officer for this region

Bucks County Museum is planning to create new displays that represent our local people and landscapes, including the stories of communities then and now.  We have secured National Lottery Heritage Fund investment over 3 years to deliver a project celebrating Bucks Heroes and the project has now received permission to start from 16 October 2020.  Feeding into our larger gallery re-development programme, Bucks Heroes will collate and curate representative content, enhancing our collections and the stories we tell. The Project Co-ordinator will be a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of this project.
