To stabilise their financial position during these turbulent times, museums are exploring ways to diversify income streams. We recognise that trying something new often comes with risks, which can stop good ideas from being developed.
Our new Innovate to Generate scheme offers grants of up to £1200 to encourage museums to explore and pilot new, innovative income generation ideas as part of their quest to build a stronger financial future.
The scheme will start with 4 workshops led by Rosalind Johnson, co-founder of A Different View and an experienced consultant and trainer. With over 20 years of experience in the cultural sector she has wide ranging knowledge of income generation both in museums and the wider visitor attraction sector.
The workshops will look at how to plan for a new income-generating offer and how to avoid some of the pitfalls. This will provide museums with a basis for planning a new opportunity for their museum, with expert support and advice from A Different View.
Participating museums will then be eligible to apply for a £1200 grant to set up and trial their plans. Grants are available to South East museums (non-NPO, non-National) that are Accredited or formally Working Towards Accreditation.
We are looking to recruit 10 museums to take part in this scheme.
· Participants will need to attend or watch the recording of our Diversifying Income: Beyond the Shop training session
· Participants will be required to attend 4 morning workshop sessions (17 June, 1 July, 8 July 22 July) to gain expert support and advice to develop their ideas.
· Grant payments will be made on submission of a grant application form detailing your proposed activity.
Please complete the Expression of Interest and return to us by Friday 11 June (10am).
