The SEMDP Collections at Risk Grant is an emergency fund which aims to help museums cover additional security and collections care costs incurred as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.
We see this as an ‘emergency fund’ to help museums through the next 3 to 6 months.
Who can apply?
The grant is open to all accredited/formally working-towards-accreditation museums in the South East (Surrey, Sussex, Kent, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire).
National Portfolio Organisations and National museums are not eligible to apply for the grant.
How much can I apply for?
Individual Museums can apply for a maximum of £2000.
How do I submit an application?
- You should contact your MDO to discuss your application.
- You should read the guidance document below to help you with your application.
- You should complete a Collections at Risk Grant Application Form. Only fully completed forms will be considered and processed.
When will I hear whether my application has been accepted?
We aim to assess applications and contact applicants regarding the outcome within 2 weeks of submission.
Is there a closing date?
We are assessing applications on a ‘rolling’ basis. This will allow us to respond to requests quickly. There is a finite pot of money available, so the scheme will close when the funds have been fully committed. It is likely that the scheme will close by June 2020, so we encourage you to submit your applications early.
Note: Museums can only receive one of SEMDP’s emergency grants: Collections at Risk or Saving Collections (SDNPA).
