Katharine Hale

Programme Liaison Officer

Kat Hale

I have worked with museums and other visitor attractions in the South East of England since 2004 when I completed my BA (Hons) Tourism Management at Bradford University. Previous to this I lived, and was born in Sussex so have always been really passionate about this region.

My first experience of supporting museums was when I was fresh out of university and employed by Wealden District Council to help produce a Sussex visitor guide. I did this two years running, it enabled me to get a real sense of the important part museums play in the local visitor economy; and in understanding our past.

I have been lucky enough to work with a number of visitor attractions in the South East over the years through my Tourism Officer roles at Maidstone (Kent), and in the South Downs National Park (Sussex and Hampshire). In 2009 I was employed by the South Downs to manage an EU funded sustainable tourism project called Collabor8, I had to provide the quarterly progress and financial reports, project communications and to deliver various outcomes such as development of a South Downs training course, provide tourism business network grants, and support tourism accreditation schemes. After this role I continued to support rural tourism organisations by developing a framework of which to deliver support to the sector and to monitor tourism in the National Park

After taking a three month career break exploring Central America I am now lucky enough to be continuing to support the museum sector through my new role as Programme Liaison Officer. I will be providing regional financial, performance, and communications support to this programme so please get in touch if have any questions for me!
