Job Opportunity: Head of National Programmes, The National Gallery
Sunday 23rd September 2018
Department: National Programmes
Closing date: 23 September 2018
Interview date: 11 October 2018
This is an exciting opportunity to head up the National Gallery`s National Programmes, and play a vital role in their future development.
A key new strategic objective of the Gallery in its 2018-23 Strategic Plan is to become `a truly national Gallery` and a Head of National Programmes is required to make this a reality. You will be devising a new national strategy for working in collaborative partnerships with both larger and smaller museums and galleries across the UK.
The Head of National Programmes is responsible for leading, developing and delivering the Gallery`s national programmes and partnerships in collaboration with the Director of Public Programmes and Partnerships and the Heads of Education and Exhibitions.
The role will also involve close collaboration with colleagues across the Gallery in order to broaden and strengthen the range of innovative programmes in which the Gallery may participate in the future.
The Gallery is looking for someone who has a strong understanding of strategic and policy issues (internal and external) related to collaboration between national museums and galleries and those outside London, has the ability to influence policymakers and funders and can convey information clearly, concisely and accessibly.
The successful candidate will be able to lead a team, establish strong working relationships, be a strategic thinker, calm under pressure and a good negotiator.
