Sustainability Project Sharing Day
28th March 2018, Kelmscott Manor, Lechlade, GL7 3HJ
Kelmscott Manor invites museums from around the area to come and find out more about their Arts Council England Resilience funded sustainability project and the Manor's plans, and to hear about what they have learnt.
In a time of political and economic uncertainty and an ever increasing demand on resources, Kelmscott Manor is looking for innovative ways to increase its profile and become more sustainable so that the Manor and its heritage will continue to attract visitors and be maintained for future generations. The day will feature talks about the project and also a talk by a professional fundraiser with a specialism in museums.
Lunch will be provided and a tour of the beautiful property will also be offered. The manor, famed for their cream teas, has been described as an 'utterly beautiful slice of heaven', and this is a day not to be missed!

Did you know, you don't have to be in Hampshire to take part in Creative Genius 2018?
The Hampshire Big Theme is an exciting collaborative programme of exhibitions, performances, installations, events and digital experiences led by Hampshire Cultural Trust with the support of the South East Museum Development Programme.
Each one explores a topic inspired by a key anniversary or popular theme with a unique Hampshire twist!
We have already held four exciting Big Themes: 2014: 1914; 2015: Dinosaurs!; 2016: Royal Blood; and, 2017: Jane Austen. We are now working on the 2018 Big Theme:
Creative Genius - ideas, innovation and industry that changed the world
This Big Theme is all about celebrating Hampshire's amazing contribution to science, technology and industrial innovation. Themes being explored include the birth of experimental archeology, the growth of maritime technologies to the development of the Spitfire. Through exhibitions, events and happenings, this Big Theme will explore the extraordinary designers, inventors, engineers and entrepreneurs who have worked in Hampshire and made their impact on the nation and the wider world.
You don't even have to be in Hampshire to have collections relevant to the county's contribution to scientific, technological and industrial innovation. What stories can your museum tell?
What's in it for you?
Whether your museum is in Hampshire or in neighbouring localities - e.g. Portsmouth, Southampton, Isle of Wight, Dorset, Berkshire, Surrey, Sussex, Wiltshire - there are many benefits for cultural organisations that take part in the Big Theme, such as:
- Joint marketing (upselling and cross-selling)
- Access to the promotional Big Theme website
- Inclusion in press releases
- Umbrella branding
- Opportunities for collaborations that may secure external funding
Lead partner Hampshire Cultural Trust is supporting the campaign with marketing resources: brand and guidelines; press support; Creative Genius newsletter; dedicated Creative Genius social media channels and support; and a fantastic new website where you can list your exhibitions and events.
