‘Creative Interventions’ Pitching Day

Tuesday 21st March 2017

11.00am - 2.30pm

The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre, Havant

Interested in new ways of interpreting museum collections? The Spring’s exciting  Arts Council-funded project is creating opportunities for artists to research and develop bold, creative projects for the museum.  See the project in action. Meet artists who have a passion for working with museums. Discover innovative approaches to interpreting collections.

Creative Interventions is The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre in Havant’s exciting new project, creating the opportunity to work with artists to research and develop bold, creative projects for the museum - whether installations, performances, immersive events or other creative interventions. Project partners include Battersea Arts Centre, Hampshire Cultural Trust, the South East Museum Development Programme and The Fundraising Practice and the project is supported by funding from Arts Council England.

A key part of the project is a selection process to identify partner artists  to explore new approaches to presenting and interpreting heritage, including a ‘Pitching Day’ on Tuesday 21 March 2017. Six artists selected through a competitive process during February will have been working for a month on creative proposals. All six will be presented at the Pitching Day and one will be selected to take forward into the delivery phase in the future.

The Spring welcomes other museums to attend the day. This is a good opportunity to see the project in action and explore the diversity of creative projects that a museum collection can inspire. It is also a great way to meet artists and creative practitioners who are interested in working with museums. Through the previous  stage, the six selected artists will all have demonstrated: a capability to deliver high quality, innovative work through collaboration; a passion for exploring and uncovering the stories and histories of communities and an interest in developing residency-style, site-specific projects. Perhaps one of the projects or artists not chosen by The Spring would be great opportunity for your museum?

Places at the Pitching Day are limited. Tickets are free. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. To express interest in attending, or if you have any queries, please email Jemma Corbin by Friday 10 March 2017.

Creative Interventions is supported by Arts Council England.
