Object in Focus: Free short-term loans from the Horniman Museum & Gardens

'Object in Focus' is a project funded by Arts Council England to proactively loan out objects to museums and non-museum venues. Its aim is to increase access to the Horniman's stored collections, promote Smarter Loans and forge links with other museums and cultural organisations.

This free offer includes an object or themed objects in a showcase with lighting, transport, installation, interpretation, a talk or event, publicity and support throughout the loans process.  An example of a loan coming up in the South East is Rochester Guildhall Museum in Kent, who are borrowing the Shogi set from 9th October until 25th January.  This is being complemented with a talk in the afternoon of 18th November by Rose Kerr who is the Former Keeper of the Far Eastern department at the V&A.

The Horniman Museum are currently looking for partners to work with in the next phase of Object in Focus from April 2015 onwards. Objects currently in the project span their three collections; Natural History, Anthropology and Musical instruments and can enhance your displays or work as a stand-alone exhibition.

Please contact Sarah Mahood, Collections Access Officer at the Horniman Museum & Gardens if you would like more information, on or 0208 858 8232. Read more at on the Horniman Museum website.
