Fareham Museum wins 'Safer Place' award

Does your museum maximise its social impact by offering a warm welcome to vulnerable people?

The 'Safer Places' scheme aims to provide vulnerable people, and particularly those with a learning disability, with a safe place to go to where help can be summoned if they are feeling scared or upset while out on their own in the community.

It's up and running in several parts of the Hampshire Solent sub-region including Hampshire and Southampton.

In Fareham, as part of the scheme service users are nominating their most welcoming and safe place each month. Congratulations to Fareham Museum who won the very first monthly award - described by Day Services Officr Sophie Pleydell who runs the scheme as "our first choice, a very friendly place."
