New Museums Association rep for the South East

We are delighted to hear that Janita Bagshawe, Director of the Royal Pavilion and Museums, is now the Museums Association representative for the South East.

A note from Janita:

"I have recently taken on the role of the Museums Association's representative for the south east region. This is a three year appointment. The role of the regional representatives is to act as the conduit between membership and the officers and to represent members' views to the MA.

As the Royal Pavilion and Museums is the lead organisation in the south east through which the Arts Council facilitates the regional museum development programme, I intend to use some of the existing ways that we have to communicate with museums to engage MA members. So this is the first communication to that effect.

The MA is undertaking its annual cut survey - please can I urge you to fill it in, as it gives an overview of how the reductions in public expenditure are impacting on our sector.

At the end of September there is a meeting of regional representatives, so if there are any points or issues you would like to be raised please let me know. My email address is

It would also be good to hear your views about what you would like to see the MA doing in the regions, such as regional communications and events.

I have now a Twitter account under the name Janita Bagshawe. I am still a relative novice - I have to date generally followed and not tweeted. However, I shall make attempts to do some tweets which highlight the great work that is happening in our sector across the region."
