Hampshire Big Theme 2015, Dinosaurs! Will you take part?
The annual Hampshire Big Theme is an exciting collaborative programme of exhibitions, performances, installations, events and digital experiences led by Hampshire County Council and in partnership with Southampton City Council and Winchester City Council. Each one explores a topic inspired by a key anniversary or popular culture with a unique Hampshire twist!
The first Big Theme, entitled 1914, launched a five year programme of activities in 2014 that commemorate the centenary of the First World War (www.bigtheme.org.uk/1914). We are now planning for 2015 and beyond and we welcome museums in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to be part of it…
The 2015 Dinosaurs! Big Theme is inspired by Hampshire’s long tradition of natural history collecting and interest in biodiversity. It is not just about dinosaurs, but a fantastic opportunity to interpret in a creative way our relationship with the natural world. Evolution, climate change, fossil fuel, natural selection, naturalists and explorers of the world are all subjects that can be explored under the 2015 Big Theme banner.
There are many benefits for cultural organisations that take part in the Big Theme, such as:
• Joint marketing (up-selling and cross-selling)
• Access to a promotional Big Theme digital platform
• Umbrella branding
• Opportunities for collaborations that may secure external funding
To make the Dinosaurs! Big Theme a success and help you to identify opportunities for collaboration, we need to know if your organisation is interested in taking part in this Big Theme. Please complete a short survey by Friday 11 July to tell us about any relevant collections, plans and ideas you may have. It should not take you more than 20 minutes to finish.
The survey can be found here: www.surveymonkey.com/s/2015BigTheme
