Museums at Night attracts new audiences

Over 500 museums and galleries across the UK opened their doors for the Museums at Night weekend and festival in May, with nearly 200,000 people visiting them over the three days for a widely-diverse range of events.  Over 700 events took place during place during the festival, now in its sixth year, run by Culture24 and funded by Arts Council England (ACE).  The BBC chose the festival to ask the question ‘Are museums enjoying a golden era?’ in a special programme broadcast on the Saturday night.

There were also record numbers of votes for this year’s Connect10 competition which links museums with artists for unique events at museum sites across the country.  Many AIM members joined in – send your photos of your activities for potential inclusion in the AIM Bulletin.
