Digital Narratives workshop 2: in five words, it was inspiring, intriguing, busy, warm and fun

There was a full house for the second workshop of the Digital Narratives project on Monday. The packed session was led by Kajsa Hartig from the New Media Department of Nordiska Museet, Sweden. There was a great mix in the room from museums on and off the full project.

We heard from the five museums on the project about the progress they are making. During the day, all participants worked up examples of storytelling campaigns, using a simple four-step process: Find the stories; Pick the channels; Get the staff on board; Publish and maintain sustainably. We also used a really useful '5 words, 5 sentences' technique to create compelling stories. Loads of great ideas came out of this activity and you'll see results through Hampshire Solent museums' social media channels soon.

Kajsa brought her considerable experience of managing the museum’s social media channels to the day, providing lots of insight from real life practice. Abhay added to the day making strong links back to the project museums' priorities and lessons from other sectors.

Forward dates for your diary: Workshop 3 on Monday 8 September 2014 and Workshop 4 on Monday 12 January 2015. Full details and booking arrangements will be announced via the newsletter.
