Be part of the 'Time Travelling on the Isle of Wight' tourism campaign
Important information for Isle of Wight museums about Visit Isle of Wight’s summer campaign from David Thornton, CEO of Visit Isle of Wight LTD. Deadline to respond Tuesday 20 May 2014.
In approximately four weeks, Visit Isle of Wight LTD will be launching our second large scale campaign of the season. This half a million pound campaign includes a TV advert voiced by stage and screen actress Celia Imrie, a new movie tie-in with Paramount Studios, and special Time Travellers passport that will be offered to families as they travel across the Solent this summer (amongst other elements). Further details about the campaign and a toolkit for Island tourism businesses will be released close to the 1st of June, but read on for very important information.
In November 2013, at the invitation of Isle of Wight Council, the Heritage sector on the Island were invited to register to be included in the Time Travel Experience that will be featured on an iphone/ipad application and published online as part of the material connected with this campaign. The deadline for inclusion is now only a matter of days away.
Please read the following information carefully and then follow the contact instructions at the end of this information to get in touch.
The Time Travel Application (iphone/ipad site and website)
If you represent a heritage visitor attraction or site that you think tourists will be interested in visiting, you can apply to Visit Isle of Wight Ltd to have your “attraction” listed in the time travel application. The absolute deadline for inclusion is Tuesday 20th of May at 12 noon. Any heritage attraction or site who contacts us after that date will not feature in the campaign.
We are especially interested in heritage & visitor attractions and sites that relate to the following time periods: Dinosaurs and the Ancient World, Roman Britain, the Medieval World, Victorian Island, Modern Times (including the World Wars), and anything that may be considered futuristic!
If you already have a Destination Management Record (web page) on our website www.visitisleofwight.co.uk you do not need to register, but it may still be wise to contact us and let us know that you are especially relevant for a particular period in history that will feature in our promotion…(e.g. Dinosaur Play Area at Amazon World / Marconi Monument at The Needles Park). You can feature in more than one time period list.
The Collector-Stamp Time Travellers Passport
We are also offering twenty visitor attraction sites an amazing opportunity to become time travel sites in a unique collector-stamp promotion tied into a new Paramount Studios Steven Spielberg movie launching in the UK this summer. This promotion is likely to receive world-wide publicity through Paramount’s social network of channels that includes more than 30 million participants. To become a collector stamp site you will have to agree to stamp visiting Isle of Wight time traveller’s passports as they arrive at your site and be prepared to make available a number of prizes that passport holders can claim. See below for how to obtain more details and register your interest.
