Conservators get networking

There was a great turnout at a meeting at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard last week organised by the Mary Rose Museum's Head of Conservation, Eleanor Schofield, to explore the potential for a local conservation network.

Attendees expressed a keen interest in peer networking and collaboration. So it was agreed that the group will meet up periodically as the 'South Region Conservation Network' to discuss items related to working in the field of Conservation. There were lots of ideas of activites to support sharing and good practice, such as tours of facilities, talks on specific subject matter, seeking advice from fellow members and discussions of ethics, treatments, and methodologies. There was also interest in developing a collaborative approach to emergency response.

Following this positive start, a new online discussion forum has been created using LinkedIn group and plans are underway for future meetings and events.

If Conservation is your specific area of focus and you would like to contribute to the success of the new network, sign up to the LinkedIn group. (Not sure how? Read this helpful how-to guide!)
