Arts Award in Heritage Organisations 2014 - project funding available
Closing date: 28 April 2014.
Artswork, in its role as the South East Bridge in collaboration with the South East Museum Development Programme (SE-MDP) is supporting Arts Award in Heritage organisations.
Artswork and the SE-MDP are seeking expressions of interest from Museums and Heritage organisations wishing to develop and undertake work with schools / young people that integrates Arts Award into their offer. Investment is available for 6 challenge funds of £1500 each to support new initiatives in partnership with schools or youth organisations.
Artswork’s investment will enable 6 Heritage organisations to embed Arts Award in their offer for children & young people and schools during 2014 and follows a pilot initiative led by Artswork in 2012/3.
Eligible Heritage organisations include museums, land and natural conservation organisations, buildings, landmarks and monuments, Local Authority Archives, English Heritage, The National Trust, Historic Houses Association, places of faith and charitable organisations working through Heritage and education.
Arts Award is a flexible qualification offered at one introductory and four accredited levels accessible for children & young people aged 5-25. It can be based around any arts or media activity and completed in any setting.
“By working along side young participants, creative practitioners and Arts Award advisers, museum and heritage education teams will have a wonderful opportunity to develop the amazing potential of their collections, sites and learning offers in refreshing and perhaps unexpected ways.” Chris Drake, SE Museum Development Programme.
“Artswork is delighted to be working with the SE-MDP team to extend the reach of Arts Award across the South East and provide increased access for children & young people to arts and culture across the natural and built heritage sector.” Lucy Medhurst, Artswork.
