Security Review 'sharing day'

Accredited museums must obtain expert and objective security advice for collections at least every five years and plan to implement any recommendations.  We are interested to find out if there are museums in west Kent who are due a review of their security arrangements and would benefit from a 'sharing day' with a consultant security advisor to help meet the Accreditation requirement. Please contact joanna.low@brighton-hove.gov.uk to register your interest.

Manuscript Conservation Grants

The National Manuscripts Conservation Trust offers grants for the conservation and preservation of manuscripts and archives, making previously inaccessible collections available for study and research.  The next deadline for applications is 1 April, with results announced in July.  The following deadline will be 1 October.

The grants, which have been available since 1990, can cover conservation, binding and other preservation measures, including digitisation (providing it is part of a wider conservation project).  Previous grant recipients include Wisbech Museum and Wiltshire Archaeological & Natural History Societies, as well as universities and county records offices.  Applications must be submitted on the application form.
