Services from Hampshire Archives and Local Studies

Did you know that Hampshire Archives and Local Studies provide a range of support services to local heritage organisations?

Advice is available to community archives on how to collect and record local history, manage and care for local records. Also advice on where to look for funding!

The Living Links Blog is regularly updated with news, events and discussion relevant to anyone who is collecting information about the history of their community: including dates for the 'Archive Ambassador' training scheme which covers archive preservation and conservation, cataloguing, digitisation and film and sound archives.

In addition, archive support services are available including digitising, packaging and cataloguing:

  • Digitisation service for two dimensional items up to A0 in size, including photographs, glass plates, slides, volumes, maps, plans and individual documents
  • Archive packaging training. Learn about the types of material and techniques for packaging maps, plans, photographs and documents, and how to make four-flap enclosures.
  • Training and support for archive cataloguing. Do you have a document collection which you would like to make more accessible?
  • Training and support for oral history projects. Would you like advice on interview tips or recording devices?
