The Sussex Archaeological Society is the leading heritage organisation in Sussex.

About you

They are looking for an experienced and qualified Human Resources professional to manage their personnel department. You will have the professional skills and experience to manage employee relations, training and development, data protection, disciplinaries and grievances and recruitment. Experience in the heritage or not for profit sector is not essential but would be a plus. You will have strong people skills, excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, great organisation skills and you will be confident to handle difficult conversations and to promote change.

About the role

The post is permanent and can be worked over 20-25 hours per week. The post reports directly to the Chief Executive and sits within the senior management team of the Society. Primarily based at their headquarters in Bull House, Lewes but the post holder will be expected to regularly visit and work with colleagues in their museums which are spread across Sussex.

The pay for the post will be £24,720 per annum (FTE, calculated pro rata to hours agreed). The post-holder will be eligible to join the Society’s pension scheme after the probationary period. In addition the role can offer a good amount of flexibility to the right candidate in terms of working pattern (would for example work within school hours)
