Job Opportunity: Museum Curator, Old Police Cells Museum Society

Job Title: Museum Curator
Location: Brighton Town Hall
Salary: £18,327 pro rata
Working hours: 14.8 hours per week
Closing date: 27th October 2017

The Old Police Cells Museum Society is looking for a part-time Museum Curator to manage their Archives and Exhibitions. This position provides an exciting opportunity for the right candidate and will be employed through Sussex Police.

The Museum is housed in the basement of Brighton Town Hall and offers visitors and unique insight into the history of Sussex Police and is both educational and entertaining. 
The Museum received charitable status in 2011 and are currently working towards Museum Accreditation which is an exciting opportunity to the Museum.

Main Duties:

• The management and co-ordination of the Museum Service
• The conservation and display of the collections 
• To advise the Management Committee and Museum Trustees on the provision of all museum policies 
• To develop relationships with stakeholders, deliver outreach opportunities and promote the service effectively 
Skills and experience 
The successful candidate should have a degree or appropriate professional qualification in Museum Studies or any other relevant subject. Knowledge of museum professional documentation procedures, preventative conservation and remedial conservation issues relating to the collections.
