Collections Officer (maternity cover to 2 March 2018) full time, £28,099 – 33,926
We are looking for a qualified curator with substantial experience of working in a collections management role and strong organisational and people management skills. They should have experience in using museum collections to engage the community, good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to enthuse the public through museum collections and stories, and experience of using and exploiting digital media and technologies to promote dialogue with audiences.
The Collections Officer’s key role, naturally, is to lead on managing collections, in line with professional standards. However, it also focuses strongly on making collections available to the public, working strategically and in a front line capacity to enthuse, excite and engage audiences. This is particularly important during the maternity cover period as the service is delivering an Arts Council England funded project, Your Stories, Your Museum. This transformational project is supporting the team in building greater integration and engagement with local audiences and developing a collaborative approach with the community in shaping and providing services.
