Security Review 'sharing day'

Accredited museums must obtain expert and objective security advice for collections at least every five years and plan to implement any recommendations.  We are interested to find out if there are museums in west Kent who are due a review of their security arrangements and would benefit from a 'sharing day' with a consultant security advisor to help meet the Accreditation requirement. Please contact joanna.low@brighton-hove.gov.uk to register your interest.

Challenging Times: The World Turned Upside Down

Wednesday 26th April 2017 to Thursday 27th April 2017

Challenging Times: The World Turned Upside Down

26th and 27th April, National Civil War Centre

For the first time a two day conference, Challenging Times: The world turned upside down, will take place in the East Midlands looking at how museums, historic houses and heritage sites can develop their audiences and manage change.

In a fast changing, uncertain environment, the cultural sector can offer continuity and stability that anchor people to their communities and help them explore their place in the world. This conference will explore the latest report findings from the Arts Council, National Museums Directors Council and Association for Independent Museums. External factors influencing the future of museums, such as continued reductions in public funding and the changing desires and experiences of our visitors and communities will be explored. Expert speakers, case studies and participatory workshops will suggest ways to face these challenges through marketing, fundraising and audience development.
