Job Opportunity: Retail Manager, Museum of Army Flying, Middle Wallop

The Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop in Hampshire tells the story of British Army Flying from the earliest attempts to conduct operations with gas filled balloons in the late 1800s to today’s Army Air Corps which has operated with distinction around the world in a number of roles including combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We welcome about 30,000 visitors each year, a number that is steadily increasing. We have also recently received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to significantly improve and develop the Museum. This is a critical time for the Museum and all staff will have a part to play in the success of the development project.

The Museum’s retail operation is an important part of its commercial business and the successful candidate must be able to deliver growth in the retail business of the museum through over the counter and web sales. S/he must also be able to set high standards of customer service among retail staff.

HOURS: 20 hours per week (Mon to Fri 09.00 – 13.00)

PAY: £10.00 per hour

CONTRACT: Permanent (subject to a 6 month probation period)
