Museums in Hampshire: Host a 'Speak Out on Dementia' poetry film screening
Host a screening of a film featuring poems from the 'Speak Out on Dementia' project. Hampshire Healthwatch will be promoting the locations of the film to attract visitors.
Hampshire Cultural Trust has produced a short film to showcase some of the poems written by Maggie Sawkins for the 'Speak Out on Dementia Poetry' project.
Through this project, Hampshire Cultural Trust and Healthwatch Hampshire worked with clients and carers in Fareham and Gosport day centres to present an extraordinary project based on the voices and stories of people with dementia and their carers. Workshops within three day centres run by Age Concern Hampshire gave people the chance to speak out about their experience of local health care services. Celebrated Portsmouth poet, Maggie Sawkins worked with them to transform these stories into poetry.
Hampshire Cultural Trust are seeking venues with their own screen and DVD players to show the film during Healthwatch Week 20-24 March 2017. Healthwatch will provide panels to go alongside the film. Please do let Laura Bullivant know if you can take a copy of the film to show in your venue. Healthwatch will be promoting the locations of the film to attract visitors. Email Laura Bullivant
