EDGE Youth Project Manager – New Forest (FT)

Salary: £23,000 pa. Fixed-Term Contract. Full time – 35 hours per week

Following the success of the Leading EDGE Young Volunteers Project (2010-2014) the Wessex Heritage Trust were awarded a further three years’ funding to the end of January 2018, with a potential further three years following. The EDGE Youth Project Manager is leaving the project at the end of December to pursue a new opportunity that has arisen out of this role. Consequently, the Wessex Heritage Trust is looking to recruit a new Project Manager to end of January 2018, with a possible extension to end January 2021.

The appointee will be required to recruit and develop EDGE youth volunteer panels, meeting regularly with group members to share ideas, provide training and help them develop their own programme of public events and exhibitions.  The aim is to engage and encourage the young people to get involved and interested in Hampshire’s culture and heritage in the New Forest. You will work with youth panel members to develop their own skills and interests and assist them in producing and project managing their own public exhibitions and events over the year.

You will need to be highly organised, creative and driven, with the ability to think laterally and be able to guide and motivate others with your enthusiasm and energy.  You will need to be able to successfully engage with and relate to young people aged 14 to 24 and be able to work as part of a team with minimum supervision.  You will be proactive and possess excellent relationship-building skills and have demonstrable understanding of project management. You will also be expected to work with a number of vulnerable or hard to reach young people.  The hours can be worked flexibly to suit the successful candidates and the needs of the project, as there will be peaks and troughs in demand throughout the contract duration.  The job will involve occasional evening work and some travel. Full office support will be supplied and you will liaise with the relative Centre Manager on a day-to-day basis. Your employer will be Wessex Heritage Trust, an independent charity. We will require the successful candidate to be CRB checked.
