Job Opportunity: Duty Manager (Venue Hire and Events), Southampton City Council Arts & Heritage

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Duty Manager within Arts and Heritage at Southampton City Council, the successful candidate with work within our visitor attractions and museums.

Tudor House and Garden opened to the public in August 2011 after major capital investment in the building which included extensive restoration and installation of new state of the art interactive exhibition.

 SeaCity Museum opened in April 2012, again after major capital investment this state of the art museum tells Southampton Titanic Story, and Gateway to the World tells stories of people who travelled as traders, some settled here, others arrived seeking refuge. Our 400 square meter pavilion hosts temporary wide ranging exhibitions.

 Southampton City Art Gallery opened in April 1939 within Southampton’s Civic Centre, it is internationally renowned for its permanent collection, which spans eight centuries and tells the story of western art from the Renaissance to the present day. The venue caters for families, with gallery trails through the exhibitions, monthly art clubs and a fantastic range of activities for all ages.

 Westgate Hall is a 15th Century venue which is available for corporate, private and wedding hire opportunities.

You will be a lead member of the Customer Service team, ensuring our Arts and Heritage venues across Southampton open and operate successfully.

 The successful applicant will have excellent customer service and communication skills and oversee daily operations, events and venue hire for the visitor attractions in the Arts and Heritage portfolio. The ideal applicant would have a minimum of two years of operational experience and have the skill and ability to manage multiple venues, a team of staff, Rota’s, Health and Safety and have a good knowledge of systems relating to finance and banking.

The Arts and Heritage venues operate a thriving corporate and wedding hire offer as well as a wealth of events across venues and across the calendar year.  The applicant should have experience in running events and hire from initial contact to completion of event including evaluation.

Arts & Heritage provide a 7 day a week service and working shifts with the operational team is essential to the role, ensuring service and customer needs are exceeded.

The successful applicant would be expected to have hands on approach and would be required to work evenings and weekends as required, adapting to the needs of the service.
