Job Opportunity: Curator/Manager, Petersfield Museum
Curator/Manager of Petersfield Museum – 6 month contract; full-time
This is an exciting time for Petersfield Museum as it begins a major expansion programme. We are seeking a Curator/Manager to run our fully Accredited independent charitable trust Museum on a day-to-day basis and project-manage the first phase of a development plan that stems from the recent acquisition of Petersfield’s former police station, opened in 1858. This building is situated next to the old courthouse, also owned by the Museum.
The short-term contract that we are offering arises from the fact that our present Curator/Manager has been appointed to a senior position at the Jewish Museum in London. Once we know the result of a current grant application to the Heritage Lottery Fund, we will then take steps to appoint someone on a permanent basis.
The contract fee for 6 months is £14k. If you wish to discuss the job role (see details below) please contact Dr Kathrin Pieren, Curator/Manager of Petersfield Museum, Tel. 01730 262601. General information about the museum and its collections can be found on the Museum’s website: www.petersfieldmuseum.co.uk
Applications should be sent to Petersfield Museum, The Old Courthouse, St Peter’s Road, Petersfield, Hampshire, GU32 3HX. Envelopes should be marked "Curator Position – In Confidence". The deadline for applications is 28th July. After the short-listed candidates have been interviewed, it is hoped that the successful person will be able to start work as soon as possible, preferably immediately.
