Job Opportunity: Conservator, Hampshire Cultural Trust

Salary: circa £25,000 (FTE) per annum

Location: Winchester

Hours: 37 hours per week (full time)

Type of Contract: Permanent

Hampshire Cultural Trust manages the museum collections owned by Hampshire County Council and Winchester City Council: these include Archaeology, the Arts, Historic Photographs, Natural Sciences and Social and Industrial History. As a conservator for Hampshire Cultural Trust, you could find yourself working on diverse and challenging items ranging from a Tasker steam engine to a vacuum cleaner, farm cart, clock or sporting gun. These items could be used for display in any one of our 18 accredited museums and heritage sites, including Bursledon Windmill, Winchester City Museum and Milestones Museum in Basingstoke, or at an event anywhere in Hampshire.

You will be able to demonstrate that you are a versatile, practical and flexible person. The successful candidate would join our team of five highly-skilled conservation staff and would focus on the care of the Social and Industrial History Collection. This position is based in the collections centre, Winchester, but requires frequent and regular visits to our other site across Hampshire. You will also be responsible for generating income by providing conservation services to other museums and related organisations, and managing volunteers.

The trust champions world-class culture and exists to showcase, connect and empower Hampshire's creative economy. It is an independent charity that works collaboratively to bring organisations, people and ideas together for greater impact.
