ACE announce further funding to help South East museums
Between 2016 and 2018, £2.4million is available to support non-national museums across the country to receive loaned items from National Museums or Major Partner Museums.
John Orna-Ornstein, Director, Museums and South East, Arts Council England, said: “Ready to Borrow is a really important scheme that helps us to support a wide range of smaller museums across England. Receiving loans is a great way to introduce new audiences to exciting pieces of our history and I look forward to seeing many more organisations, in the South East and more widely, follow in the footsteps of successful applicants like Southend Museums and East Grinstead Museum.”
Ready to Borrow
The Ready to Borrow: Small Scale Capital Development scheme provides important funding for smaller museum improvements, helping them to meet requirements to receive loans from major collections.
This could be for better display cases, correct lighting, increased security and even temperature control so that important objects and artefacts are looked after.
This scheme is an important way of ensuring more people across England have the opportunity to see, learn about and enjoy important objects from major collections
