Security Review 'sharing day'

Accredited museums must obtain expert and objective security advice for collections at least every five years and plan to implement any recommendations.  We are interested to find out if there are museums in west Kent who are due a review of their security arrangements and would benefit from a 'sharing day' with a consultant security advisor to help meet the Accreditation requirement. Please contact joanna.low@brighton-hove.gov.uk to register your interest.

Contract Opportunity: Catering Development at Whitchurch Silk Mill

Whitchurch Silk Mill Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant to develop a Catering Development Plan for the Mill's Heritage Lottery Funded 'Preserving the Fabric' project.

Whitchurch Silk Mill is a working museum, the only example in the UK of an historic silk mill open to the public, where visitors can watch skilled workers operating the machinery and then buy something in the shop made from silk woven on site.

Sustainability is key to the long term viability of Whitchurch Silk Mill. The Trust's vision statement is: "The Mill is a self-sustaining, living, industrial heritage site that weaves silk and enthrals all who walk through its doors."

We are committed to maintaining the Silk Mill as a major heritage site in North Hampshire, increasing visitor numbers, engaging more fully with the local community and increasing weaving capacity. We have 13 employees, 75 volunteers, and 25,000 visitors a year.

Closing date: 9am Friday 3 June 2016
