Salary: £45,000-£50,000 per annum
Location: Winchester
Hours: 37 hours per week
Type of Contract: Permanent

Hampshire Cultural Trust aims to be renowned for world-class culture in Hampshire and great customer experience lies at the heart of our brand ambition. We want to inspire a team ethos across our charity and trading business that values all our visitors as special friends and guests who we inspire to become loyal customers.

The Head of Experience and Commercial Development is a new position that will play a pivotal role in leading this change in business culture across our museums portfolio in particular; a portfolio that already attracts over 500,000 guests per annum. It will be required to oversee the operational running of the museums (taking a very hands-on approach), ensuring that the highest standards of service are offered to our visitors, including looking after the management and security of buildings. This will involve the post-holder maintaining a highly visible and regular presence in the public areas of the HCT estate.

The post-holder will also be expected to take a significant role in driving HCT’s long-term financial sustainability, with responsibility for encouraging, supporting and leading growth in retail, catering, venue hire and events activity across the museums portfolio.

Summary of the Role

  • Effective management and development of the museums operations function
  • To establish and champion an organisation-wide customer experience standard level and training programme for staff and volunteers
  • To develop an ambitious, achievable trading activities plan for the museums and wider trust portfolio, building on existing activity and introducing new opportunities
  • With the Development and Communications team, establish and maintain effective methods of internal communication including team briefings and wide and successful use of the HCT intranet

The successful candidate will be a natural, confident and competent leader with excellent communication skills and demonstrable experience relevant to the role. Travel across Hampshire will be required by this position.
