News & Opportunities
So you always meant to be a Mentor…
Many of the smaller, usually voluntary-sector museums in our region don’t have the resources to employ museum professionals. This is where Museum Accreditation Mentors come in.
They provide impartial, external advice and help their mentored museum achieve Accreditation and maintain it, with the support of the regional Museum Development team. Mentors have proved to be highly valued by the museums they work with and the role offers opportunities to extend your museum experience. You can find out more about being a mentor here http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/what-we-do/supporting-museums/accreditation-scheme/museum-mentors/ or by coming to the Accreditation Mentor Workshop on Friday 18th March 2016 from 10.30am to 4.00pm at the Foundling Museum, London.
We are currently looking for mentors for several museums is the region. If you think you’d like to become one, let your MDO know or contact Kate Hebditch, Accreditation Adviser email@example.com. Please note that ACE require mentors to have at least 5 years’ museum experience.
