Job Vacancy: Chief Operating Officer, Hampshire Cultural Trust
Location: Winchester, Basingstoke and the County of Hampshire
Salary: Up to £80,000
Hampshire Cultural Trust was established in 2014 to promote Hampshire as a great cultural county and to operate arts and museums facilities previously operated by Hampshire County Council and Winchester City Council.
The trust manage and support 26 arts and museums attractions across Hampshire (23 directly and three in partnership), and deliver a county-wide outreach programmes that brings great culture to local communities. They work with young people and target audiences from diverse backgrounds in all areas including literature, rural arts touring, the visual arts and local history. In addition, they look after 2.5 million objects relating to Hampshire’s internationally significant cultural heritage.
Reporting to the CEO and operating as part of the senior management team the Chief Operating Officer will have responsibility for developing and driving forward a highly successful, customer centred and commercial driven organisation, leading on an accountable for operational delivery.
Operational responsibility for all HCT attractions and programmes, including exhibitions, arts, collections, educational and community engagement activity, leading a team of 100 full time staff and 400 volunteers in delivering high quality customer experience in all areas.
Set and deliver on achievable, stretching income targets particularly in the areas of admissions and trading activity – retail, catering and venue hire, identifying new commercial activities and assist in driving forward business growth.
Devise robust and clear systems for the collation and detailed analysis of relevant business data at individual venue/ programme and business-wide level, ensuring the continued financial viability of HCT attractions and programmes through sound fiscal management.
Engender a strong team spirit across the organisation, working with the Director of Finance and Resources to develop staff motivational rewards, development and performance management systems.
Proven track record of results-driven leadership in a consumer-focused industry inspiring teams to deliver excellent customer experience.
Executive level experience in a successful commercial business of similar scale, delivering its product through multiple assets in distributed locations.
Demonstrable success in setting and delivering against stretching income targets in areas of relevant trading activity, and identifying opportunities for new commercial growth.
A leader and team player with a clear passion for HCT’s vision, mission and charitable purpose. You’ll be a strong relationship builder and motivator with excellent communication skills and experience of leading diverse work teams and developing a business-wide performance programmes.
