Part funded Internships in the creative industries

Creative Access was founded in 2012 to provide opportunities for paid internships in the creative industries for young people of graduate (or equivalent) standard from under-represented black, Asian and other non-white minority ethnic backgrounds. They aim to improve interns chances of securing full-time jobs and, in the longer term, increase diversity and address the imbalance in the creative sector.

Creative Access are a registered charity (number 1146822) based at ITV in London and a strategic initiative which complies with its obligations under the Equality Act 2010. They are supported by the UK Commission for Employment & Skills, Creative Skillset and the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills.

To date they have placed more than 400 interns across the sector including organisations involved in advertising, publishing, design, film, music, tv and theatre, (partners include the BBC, British Council, Penguin Books, the RSC etc,and they are just beginning to get involved with museums having recently placed an intern at Compton Verney, and now with the River & Rowing Museum.

If you are interested in becoming a partner, your organisation  would  need to:

– Provide a senior-level mentor to your intern
– Allow them to participate in the Creative Access training programme and develop your own training schedule for each intern to learn on-the-job
– Commit to paying the full time equivalent of £15k per annum to your intern of which Creative Access can contribute a grant award of up to £7,500 per annum toward this) on a matched funding basis.
