Security Review 'sharing day'

Accredited museums must obtain expert and objective security advice for collections at least every five years and plan to implement any recommendations.  We are interested to find out if there are museums in west Kent who are due a review of their security arrangements and would benefit from a 'sharing day' with a consultant security advisor to help meet the Accreditation requirement. Please contact joanna.low@brighton-hove.gov.uk to register your interest.

Can you make a Fun Palace event combining art and science?

Fun Palaces are free, welcoming annual events combining arts and sciences, made for and with local people. The Fun Palaces campaign is an ongoing movement for culture at the heart of our communities.

The dates this year are 3/4 October 2015.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to make a Fun Palace. The Guidelines are that it is Free, Local, Innovative, Transformative and Engaging.

Here are the five easy steps to making a Fun Palace.  You will need to sign up your Fun Palace and take responsibility for making it happen, on whatever scale you decide to go for, from a couple of hours to the full weekend, from a small gathering to a large event.

Here’s how some people and places made their Fun Palaces in 2014 : How Did They Do It?

THE FUN PALACES MANIFESTO:

WE BELIEVE IN THE GENIUS IN EVERYONE, IN EVERYONE AN ARTIST AND EVERYONE A SCIENTIST, AND THAT CREATIVITY IN COMMUNITY CAN CHANGE THE WORLD FOR THE BETTER.

WE BELIEVE WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER, LOCALLY, WITH RADICAL FUN – AND THAT ANYONE, ANYWHERE, CAN MAKE A FUN PALACE.

As Article 27.1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says :

“Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.”
