Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson shortlisted in the national Association for Heritage Interpretation 2015 Discover Heritage Awards
Congratulations to Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson for being shortlisted in the national Association for Heritage Interpretation 2015 Discover Heritage Awards – for excellence in cultural and natural heritage interpretation in Britain and Ireland – sponsored by Geosho.
Light Fever, Painting the Fort with Light by the Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson, Artswork, and the Strong Voices project has been shortlisted in the Interpretation for a Target Audience, sponsored by Colour Heroes category. The project involved the creation of an exhibition of stunning images and accompanying soundscape by a group of young people from Portsmouth Autism Support Network (PASN). The group explored the museum and then worked with film artists Butterfly Fx and with independent creative artist Ben Claybon to make the images and record the soundtrack, which became part of the exhibition at the museum. Each category winner has a chance of winning the coveted 2015 AHI Award for Excellence in Interpretation.
AHI received a record number of entries to its prestigious awards, which are held biennially. AHI Discover Heritage Awards are the only UK and Irish awards to recognise all types of heritage interpretation.
AHI patron Loyd Grossman will announce the winners in October 2015.
