Security Review 'sharing day'

Accredited museums must obtain expert and objective security advice for collections at least every five years and plan to implement any recommendations.  We are interested to find out if there are museums in west Kent who are due a review of their security arrangements and would benefit from a 'sharing day' with a consultant security advisor to help meet the Accreditation requirement. Please contact joanna.low@brighton-hove.gov.uk to register your interest.

An new animated Commissioning Toolkit has been launched

A new animated commissioning toolkit was launched on Tuesday 23rd June at the Gulbenkian Theatre in Canterbury. The event was well attended with over 100 delegates from Kent, London and the South East.

Kent County Council's (KCC) Public Health and the Arts Development Team have been working with Artswork and Royal Opera House Bridges since 2012 on a cultural commissioning programme designed to support the arts sector to become commission-ready.

The Bridge organisations and KCC co-invested in a support programme and pilot, focused on working with the Kent initiative, the Six Ways to Wellbeing campaign to deliver on Public Health outcomes. Commissioning is an opportunity for the Arts & Culture sector to use its unique skills and creativity to deliver positive outcomes for people across a broad range of agendas. As funding for the arts comes under increasing pressure, commissioning provides opportunities for new ways of working and sustainable funding.

This toolkit will help you understand and engage with commissioning. Being commissioned provides an opportunity for the arts and cultural sector to deliver contracts for a whole range of public services whilst other funding is under increasing pressure.
