Security Review 'sharing day'

Accredited museums must obtain expert and objective security advice for collections at least every five years and plan to implement any recommendations.  We are interested to find out if there are museums in west Kent who are due a review of their security arrangements and would benefit from a 'sharing day' with a consultant security advisor to help meet the Accreditation requirement. Please contact joanna.low@brighton-hove.gov.uk to register your interest.

Artefact loan collections from the Hampshire History Centre

Last week your Hampshire Solent MDO had a very interesting visit to Hampshire County Council’s History Centre. Based in Winchester, it’s a treasure house of learning resources. It’s primarily aimed at schools but has also had some use by museums. Their team of educational experts are constantly developing new materials to keep up with the latest educational thinking and curriculum changes. They offer engaging teaching packs for sale and also loan ‘artefact collections’ for most major historical periods and topics. Heavily used by schools in term time, some of these have also been hired by museums for school holiday activities. Interested? Then visit the History Centre website. There are also centres for Maths, RE and Rights and Diversity Education on the same campus.
