Security Review 'sharing day'

Accredited museums must obtain expert and objective security advice for collections at least every five years and plan to implement any recommendations.  We are interested to find out if there are museums in west Kent who are due a review of their security arrangements and would benefit from a 'sharing day' with a consultant security advisor to help meet the Accreditation requirement. Please contact joanna.low@brighton-hove.gov.uk to register your interest.

Takeover Day in Museums

'Takeover Day' is an exciting and highly successful event with children and young people all over the UK taking charge of museums, galleries and heritage sites. This year the event will be taking place again on 22nd November and you are invited to be part of it!

Takeover Day is an annual day on which museums, galleries and historic homes invite young people in and give them a meaningful role. Children make decisions and get involved in the life of the museum. Whether you’re a14th century castle, a science centre, an archaeological site or a historic ship, it’s a day to come up with new ideas and let young people contribute.

See what’s in store and how Kids in Museums can help on the Kids in Museums ‘Take Over Day’ webpage.

  • Download factsheets to help you plan your event, including what to do if your venue is normally closed on Takeover Day and where to find young people for your event.
  • Find out more about the lasting impact that Takeover Day has on museums, staff and the young people themselves in six brand new case studies, Takeover Day 2012 report and ‘7 reasons to do Takeover Day’ factsheet.
  • Register your event or email for advice and ideas: takeoverday@kidsinmuseums.org.uk.

Kids in Museums is organising the event again as part of Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Day and is funded by Arts Council England.
