Security Review 'sharing day'

Accredited museums must obtain expert and objective security advice for collections at least every five years and plan to implement any recommendations.  We are interested to find out if there are museums in west Kent who are due a review of their security arrangements and would benefit from a 'sharing day' with a consultant security advisor to help meet the Accreditation requirement. Please contact joanna.low@brighton-hove.gov.uk to register your interest.

Contribute to the Social History Curators Group conference 2015

Plans are afoot for the Social History Curators Group (SHCG) next annual conference in 2015! The group will be visiting The Silk Mill, part of Derby Museums, and the Millennium Gallery at Museums Sheffield and the theme for the conference will be: "A Toast to the Future! New ways of engaging."

Social history practitioners have led the way in developing innovative methods to actively engage the public with our collections. Participatory practice, new methods of public engagement and innovating storytelling are key in an increasingly digital world where many museum collections are at our fingertips. How are practitioners responding to the need to provide new, fresh, innovative and exciting ways of engaging with museum collections?

If you think you have a paper that would be relevant and you would like to present at our conference in June, please download more information below and return the attached application form to Jemma Conway or Verity Smith by Friday 30th January 2015.
